Below is a listing of our preferred and most commonly used ingredients in our Maxim Care and Sportif Emu Oil products.

ALLANTOIN:  Derived from comfrey leaves. Healing agent that promotes the healing of wounds, sores & sunburn; and reduces acne. Helps to stimulate healthy tissue formation and obtain a soft, supple skin. An anti-irritant, which inhibits allergic-type reactions (anti-itch).

ALMOND OIL:   Nourishes and pampers the skin.  Helps relieve itching, soreness, dryness and inflammation.  Easily absorbed.

\ALOE VERA:  A 100X concentrated aloe vera powder, rich in enzymes, vitamins, proteins and minerals. Stimulates blood circulation. Helps heal cuts, abrasions, rashes, insect bites and burns. Hydrates, moisturizes, softens and soothes the skin. Helps to regenerate cells. Helps tighten, rejuvenate and protect the skin.

ALOE VERA GEL:  Aloe Vera extract in soya oil base.

AVOBENZONE: Sunscreen ingredient.

AVOCODA OIL:  Has skin nourishing and restorative properties. An excellent skin softener & moisturizer.

BEES WAX:  Natural wax derived from bees.  Contains no petro-chemical products.  Used as a thickener in lip balm.

BENZYL ALCOHOL: Used as a Preservative; The raw ingredient has the fragrance of Calamine Lotion.  Products with this ingredient are Paraben free. Also has anti-itch properties.

BOSWELLIA:  Studies show the Indian herb; Boswellia, blocks the activity of hormone-like chemicals (such as leukotrienes) and of immune cells involved in the inflammation of arthritis.  Several studies conducted in India have confirmed that Boswellic acids from Boswellia have potent anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic activity.

CAPSICUM:  An oleoresin derived from hot red chili peppers.  Creates a warming effect and stimulates blood flow to the skin.  Helps reduce aches and pains by intercepting the pain signals sent to the brain.

CETYL ALCOHOL:  Naturally derived emollient and emulsifier.

COCONUT OIL:   Lathers readily.  An excellent all natural skin cleanser.

DEVIL’S CLAW:  The root from this South African herb is recognized by the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia as having anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, analgesic, sedative, and diuretic properties.  Main indication is in arthritis, gout, rheumatism and lower back pain due to spondylotis.  Devils Claw is reported to help with joint pain while improving vitality of the joint.

EMU OIL:  Only AEA Certified U.S. Emu Oil is used in our product line. Highly moisturizing with unique healing, skin softening & rejuvenating properties. Highly penetrating and non greasy. A most effective and the fastest penetrating oil available.  Excellent trans-dermal carrier for other added moisturizers and ingredients. Has been shown to reduce the depth and length of fine lines & wrinkles. Non-comedogenic (does not clog pores) and hypo-allergenic. Anti-inflammatory. Helps heal sunburns, skin rashes, eczema, psoriasis and other skin problems.

EMULSIFYING WAX:  Used to create a stable water/oil emulsion cream.

ESSENTIAL OIL FLAVORING AND SCENTS:   We use pure and natural essential oils.  NO artificial fragrances or flavorings used in our products.

GERMAL PLUS:  A mild but effective preservative against bacteria, molds & yeasts. (Diazolidinyl Urea and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate)

GINSENG:  Helps promote skin metabolism and restore balance of the skin. Helps smooth wrinkles by improving blood circulation and reduces the appearance of fine lines

GLUCOSAMINE SULPHATE:  A cartilage-building sugar compound that appears to slow joint damage over time.  One recent study showed that glucosamine may be particularly useful against arthritis of the knee.  Two earlier studies found that glucosamine was as effective as or more effective than ibuprofen for relief of arthritis symptoms without the negative side effects.

GLYCERIN:  Naturally obtained emollient (makes the skin feel softer & smoother) and moisturizer. A humectant, which absorbs moisture from the air and holds it in the cream for utilization by the skin.

LANOLIN:  A  water absorbing natural emulsifier and emollient easily absorbed by the skin.  Absorbs water and holds it to the skin.  Helps soften and smooth rough, cracked, dry skin.

LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL (Scent):   Soothes inflamed skin and helps promote skin cell regeneration. Anti-bacterial and antiseptic.

MAGNESIUM ALUMINUM SILICATE: Food grade thickener known as Veegum.

MENTHOL:  Obtained naturally from peppermint oil.  An excellent counter-irritant which gives a cool feeling to the skin adn smoothes sore muscles and joints.  Has  effective local analgesic properties

MSM (methylsulfonylmethane):    An organic form of sulphur. It makes cell walls permeable, allowing water & nutrients to freely flow into cells and allowing wastes & toxins to properly flow out. Helps restore flexibility & permeability to cell walls thus equalizing pressure and reducing inflammation and pain. Helps increase blood supply and reduce muscle spasms. Has an immune normalizing effect as observed in some autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and scleroderma. It alters the cross-linking process in collagen thus reducing scar tissue. Appears to inhibit pain impulses along nerve fibers, acting as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory.

NEOMEKKINS:  A mild broad spectrum anti-microbial preservative.

OCTYL METHOXYCINNAMATE:  Sunscreen ingredient.

OIL OF WINTERGREEN:  98% methyl salicylate. Provides a warming & soothing action on skin and muscles. Effective topical analgesic.

ROSE HIP SEED OIL:  From the South American rose bush; Rosa Mosqueta. Has demonstrated to be very effective in reducing wrinkles, lines, scars, and healing UV damaged skin.

SHEA BUTTER:   Derived from the nut of a West African tree, melts at body temperature.  It absorbs quickly and penetrates deep into the skin to nourish, re-hydrate, condition and promote cell growth.  It is especially beneficial for healing of small sounds, cracked, dry skin and skin ulcers. High Vitamin A content – reverses and slows visible aging.  Forms a protective environmental barrier. Helps repair skin damage from neglect and environmental forces.  An effective treatment for eczema, psoriasis, rashes and stretch marks.

SQUALENE:  A natural component of healthy skin (makes up 12% of the sebum, decreasing with age). Deeply penetrates into the skin and helps promote cell growth. Helps preserve the skin’s elasticity & tone and nurtures a healthy glow. A natural emollient that promotes skin respiration and helps revive & purify skin. Helps maintain a consistent skin balance and helps to protect the skin from bacteria and external irritants (UV rays & pollution). Helps maintain the appearance of soft, smooth skin.

TEA TREE OIL:  A Natural anesthetic.

VITAMIN A PALMITATE (Retinyl A):  Normalizes dry skin and helps reverse damage from UV radiation. Helps reduce the depth & number of wrinkles and the signs of aging. Helps reduce acne, psoriasis, and pigmented spots on the skin. Promotes collagen production in the dermis. Effective in suppressing warts and hyper-keratosis.

VITAMIN B (panthenol):  Stimulates skin regeneration and improves the moisture-retention capacity of the skin. Has some anti-inflammatory & anti-itching effect.

VITAMIN E (d-alpha tocopherol):  An anti-oxidant that neutralizes free radical damage (UV rays, ozone & pollution). Helps inhibit skin cancers, heal scars and retard skin aging. Aids in the healing of sunburned skin and moisturizes dry mature skin.
